│
│ The Follow have risen from the underbelly of the Sydney goth/punk
│ live scene, where they began in late 2003. Only after a few months
│ gigging, they quickly released their debut EP "Love is a Cult"
│ which found its way to Lee Renaldo from Sonic Youth, who saw the
│ potential in the band and offered them to join Sonic Youth on
│ their National Australian tour. Their performances on that tour &
│ their subsequent shows, won them a legion of fans across the
│ country and after the completion of the tour Lee Renaldo offered
│ to produce the bands debut album. The Follow jumped at the chance
│ & headed straight into the studio to record, what emerged was the
│ debut album "Empty Orchestra" featuring the single "Smashed
│ Heart".
│
│ "Smashed Heart" became an instant cult hit gaining them national
│ radio and video play for the first time, both here and on
│ independent radio stations overseas, which lead them to the
│ attention of Nine Inch Nails who invited The Follow to perform on
│ several shows during their Australian tour.
│
│ Since then, The Follow have been writing, demo-ing, gigging, &
│ finally recording, which has resulted in the "Hope Your Happy" EP
│ (released August 2006). Produced & recorded by Nick Launay (Nick
│ Cave, Midnight Oil, silverchair - www.launay.com), with Nick at
│ the helm, this 5 track EP has pushed the bandÆs songwriting &
│ sound into a cohesive & powerful cocktail.
