Dan Berridge's second release is one of Memphis' best releases to
date. It explores similar sounds and themes to the 'Born Spirit'
EP, fusing jazz, blues, folk, ambient, trip-hop and world music.
Tracks like 'Confession' and 'Crash', with its Celtic flutes,
wailing vocals and intense trip-hop beats, are clearly meant as
soundtrack pieces. The best tracks here, 'Kindness' and 'Sea Of
Change' are intensely beautiful and uplifting, with simple and
uncluttered arrangements. They remind us of some of Brian Eno's
more minimalist moments.
Sea of Change and Cash is my personal top-picks on this one.
