di'jital is indeed the prototype for a dj. drawing from hip hop
influences and the birthright of the detroit sound, di'jital began
his ascent of the dj ranks over a decade ago, pumping the clubs
with his broad musical tastes juan atkins, kraftwerk, afrika
bambatta and rap and hip hop. yet, from the beginning, di'jital's
declared mission was straight forward "to keep the crowd moving all
night long."
his furious mixes are dizzying, a weaving, blending and matching of
rudimentary beats to create virtual medleys from the score of
tracks he tugs from his crate. this mix is a prototype of its own
with some of the detroit best artists featured, including aux 88,
munchman, dj k-1, x-ile, posatronix and di'jital himself.
di'jital has honed in on the skills it takes to drive the dance
floor, taking command of the decks he consistently delivers his
musical perspective to growing numbers of fans across the globe.
but, in the beginning, he knew nothing of the international dj
lifestyle, what drove him was the desire to simply be, as he says,
"a dj who works all the time."
he began on a double cassette deck in his parents, house. his
combination of diligent practice and talent took him far beyond his
first set of turntables. he later became an intricate part of aux
88. "its was like a dream came true", he says. his debut release on
direct beat, "identity", began his journey to selfhood, into what
he calls "sinister techno bass."
di'jital's conceptions as a producer are aligned with his approach
to djing. an artist who digs into the bottom of the beat,
constructing a sound from the root of the bass, and adding the
instrument voice, di'jital is creating his prototype for the dance
floor as a producer and as a dj.
