freeform arkestra is a zurich based producer & dj collective
consisting of nico canzoniere (25) and dario de nicola (25),
together with various musicians like the first european freejazz
saxophone player werner lüdi and the amazing doublebass action from
derek nievergelt as well as various others they form the freeform
arkestra collective. nico & dario started back in the day with
dj-ing, running a small illegal & intimate club with poetry-nights,
jazz-evenings & various hip hop actions as well as getting involved
in the whole science of producing music. now the boyz also start to
perform live on 4 decks with special dubplates to rearrange their
tracks live and a whole arkestra with horns, percussion, vocals,
poetry and a strong space attitude to show the whole new world of
cifte jazz.
their love for sun ra is open and they don't try to hide it, his
inspiration is also hearable in their productions but still they
already created their very own style, following also their roots
(greek/italians) they searched deep east and found the form of
cifteteli (an oriental bellydance rhytm) and they fused it to a
new form a free form of cifte jazz.
freeform arkestra have already fans, because they follow their
heart with the direction to create unheard music with progressive
ideas. as djs their passion is to establish pearls from an amazing
jazz era and also play tunes from the likes of cinematic
orchestra, joakim lone octet, innerzone orchestra and various
others who try to bring back this golden age of jazz.
this is their first ep, rlsd in march 2000. all tracks are very
smooth and a pleasure to listen to.
