it was very hard to find reviews or opinions about this record.
anyway, freeform arkestra, origin unknown, are being praised by the
scene high cats such as gilles peterson, phil asher, ashley beadle,
dj morpheus, etc, and have remixed artists like earthbound or
silent poets.
described as a mix of influences which include archie shepp, sun ra
and pharaoh sanders with original sax sounds, mad vocals and cool
beats, their sound is moody and deep as it can be confirmed in the
first track of this vinyl single - 'thyrrenean sea'. talkin' loud's
raw deal get the work done in the second track remixing the
"freeform theme", released previously in their first single. pure
bliss.
their first 12" - 'freeform ep'- is really hard to find these days
although it was released last year. this is their second and only
12" up to now, and a 4-track ep is expected soon, as well as an
album.
as someone has described it before: fierce live jazz with 21st
century production to knock your socks off. don't sleep on it. -
