Opion Somnium is a symphonic- often instrumental ambient/rock collective from
Albuquerque, New Mexico, building melancholic yet monumental musical movements
that make use of a wide variety of instruments. Such include; piano, violin,
cello, bowed guitar, organ, singing saw, accordion, trumpet, harp, contra bass,
synth, various percussion, with electronics and field recordings to create
'musical movements which reverberate enigmatically'- Ambientrance.
Having been referred to the likes of, Mum, Godspeed You Black Emperor!/ A silver
Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros sans vocals, The Album Leaf, Rachel's, and even The
Polyphonic Spree, one can see influences and also a mind set, apart from that of
usual 'pop' standards in the sense that the songs are often quite lengthy, and
crescendo in and out of multiple movements to form, on a whole, 'some
spectacularly long drones'- Neo-Zine.
