::
:: Started in the Summer of 2003 as a collection of four track
:: songs made for friends, Jacob's Stories is music made by a
:: bearded singer songwriter named Stuart Lee. To date he has
:: released three split singles and a three song E.P. Often
:: compared to Hood, Sigur Ros, Talk Talk, and Radiohead,
:: Jacob's Stories is best described as semi-electronic indie
:: rock.
::
:: Live, Stuart sometimes appears with a band, other times as
:: just a two piece, and sometimes just on his own. In the past
:: he has played shows with Hell is for Heroes, Cave In, Hundred
:: Reasons, City and Colour, My Latest Novel, Instruction,
:: Stephen Brodsky, Johnny Truant, Hood, Minus The Bear, The
:: Paper Chase and Adem among others.
::
:: ------
::
:: Jacob's Stories can have a mixed cast of characters when they
:: play live, but ultimately it's the work of one man. Stuart
:: Lee has been skirting around the periphery for quite some
:: time now, with the odd release here and the odd one there.
:: But now this Brighton-based balladeer has finally completed
:: his debut full-length and it's simply stunning. Mixing sparse
:: instrumentation with Lee's haunting vocals, 'Fledgling' is a
:: truly captivating album - slotting into your record
:: collections somewhere between Aereogramme and Radiohead circa
:: 'Kid A'. Now, Thom Yorke does have a solo album out this
:: month too, but if you've got any sense you'll spend your
:: money wisely and get this record instead. Essential stuff.
:: 9/10, Rock Sound
