| Served up in a handy CD single format in classic Defected style |
| is the deep house offering of Fish Go Deep from their bi-yearly |
| æDefected in the HouseÆ compilation that featured on the first |
| disc of Miami Æ06 is Dennis FerrerÆs remix, and for the offering |
| five other remixes including the original Fish Go Deep track. |
| |
| First up is the remix that was included on the In The House |
| compilation, mixed by defected heavyweight and near super |
| producer/dj Dennis Ferrer. His mix layers in some synth and |
| bongos to make the track deeper than the original. The beat has, |
| in this mix, a deeper bong to it as the bass follows the beat to |
| give an orchestral feel overall. The samples take on a more |
| analogue feel, but remain bleeping with the occasional attack of |
| some violins swooping in an out of the limelight. |
| |
| The original mix is up next, its feel is definitely deep but the |
| strings are more layered and combine nicely with the bass to |
| produce a classical upfront house feel. The tracks vocals, |
| provided by Miss Tracey K of Defected Records fame are seductive |
| and sexy, attractive and alluring. Her vocals seem to be sung as |
| if she were talking, with a soft overtone and a supple bounce to |
| them. The remix duties are then passed onto Charles Webster who |
| offers up a vocal remix, with a much more simplistic beat than |
| the previous two he manipulates the vocals and brings them to the |
| forefront. Soft guitars add a sense of wellbeing to the vocals on |
| occasion yet this mix feels like something is missing. It has a |
| nifty simplicity but the synth in the closing of the track felt |
| more clichΘ than anything. |

| The next three remixes are put into the capable hands of duo |
| Balearic Soul who have remixed the likes of Groove Foundation and |
| Kraak & Smaak. The first is a straight out remix that is nine or |
| so minutes long, three more than the original mix. Noticeably is |
| the hiss of a kick in that is coupled with a new, punchier beat |
| and a bassline that is full of treble. Similarly the dub version |
| of the same remix is pretty much exactly the same but it has a |
| shorter running time, more electric layering of samples and then |
| occasional guitar with a greater focus on the beat. Finally the |
| beats version is just that the nice little remixed beat with the |
| kick in and no vocals, nice little tool there for dropping your |
| own remixes on the fly. |
