Mineto Kanai (aka Waterprotection) was born in
Japan in 1973. He has been a fixture in the art
circles of Japan since 2001, with the launch of
Nordform. Nordform is a label/platform that
aspires to marry music, design & film. His debut
for Sⁿd Electronic further explores and reflects
on this art & sound design background. "Green
Oasis " is a hugely rich sojourn, into electronic
music. With an off key and speaker destroying
density about it. Waterprotection was inspired by
a programme he saw on Japanese Television, which
envisaged a world without water. The sound of
water becomes a recurring theme throughout the EP,
            becoming another instrument. Waterprotection
fascinates himself with technique and microscopic
detail without falling victim to over-analysis or
arid academic aspiration. The EP opens with "No",
with dark and murky sounds that collide together
and mingle with fierce drums, to produce a
sinister but equally provocative atmosphere. The
darkness of the music is juxtaposed by an erotic
female vox. "22" is a juggernaut of a track, dense
and yet grooving. One feels like they are swimming
deep in a deep sea of mutant techno, occasionally
coming up for air. "Green Oasis" offers highly
reduced grooves with an intricate attention to
detail but there is not let up or compromise when
it comes to the groove. The EP closes with a remix
by the producer of the moment: Seattle based Bruno
Pronsato. Bruno reconstructs "Green Oasis" into a
funked up beast with some awesome jazzy
chicagoesque keys. Freaky bleeps hopping like mad
all over a handclapping boogie beat and more of
those vocal tatters playing tricks with your mind.
