Release Notes:

If I were to say that Colleen et les boites a
musique sounded exactly as I would wish an album of
manipulated antique music boxes to sound like I do
not mean to insinuate any lack of innovation on
ColleenÆs part. The pin-prick melodies are fragile
and almost too beautiful, winding and fluttering
with ColleenÆs electronic manipulations far too
subtle to jar the listener from their reverie.
Whether whisking you away to opulent sitting rooms
or the moon (populated by the Clangers and Jules
Verne obviously) her intervention is never
apparent, itÆs as if the boxes had sprung to life
and began chattering quite by themselves.

There are surprises however. ôA bear is
trappedöreminds me of the Congotronic percussion of
Konono No.1, whilst ôPlease gamelan againö and
ôCalypso in a boxö introduce said elements with
ease. For an Ep, this release seems endlessly
generous at nearly forty minutes long and with a
video to boot, an early Christmas present perhaps?
