│ On his sophomore full-length, Tacoma Mockingbird (HEFTY 050), │
│ Eliot Lipp created an impeccable beat record that also serves │
│ as an autobiographical chronicle of love, longing and a soulful │
│ testament to the love for his hometown of Tacoma, Washington. │
│ Laying down a bedrock of notorious breakbeats under his │
│ signature Sequential Circuits and Korg MS-20 leads, EliotÆs │
│ instrumentals pour forth more emotion than most modern-day │
│ crooners, and his beats are on par with todayÆs best producers. │
│ ItÆs a catchy sound that embraces elements of hip-hop, rock, │
│ electro, soul, disco, funk and a myriad of other influences. │
│ Eliot LippÆs tasteful, instrumental sound is reminiscent of │
│ artists like DJ Shadow, RJD2, Madlib, Prefuse 73, Dabrye, etc. │
│ ItÆs music that sounds great in the car, at home, in headphones │
│ and blasting over the PA. │

│ Tacoma Mockingbird put Eliot Lipp on the radar of critics and │
│ listeners worldwide seeing non-stop touring and glowing │
│ international press coverage. Pitchfork Media went nuts for │
│ the single ôRap Tightö and gave the album a strong review. │
│ RE:UP Magazine named Eliot Lipp as ôBeatsmith of the Yearö, │
│ while URB Magazine chose Eliot as a hot artist to watch │
│ (ôInstant 2006ö feature), alongside other renowned artists like │
│ TV On The Radio, Lady Sovereign, El-P, Lupe Fiasco, Goldfrapp │
│ and a few others. Clash Magazine (UK) exclaims that Tacoma │
│ Mockingbird is ôone of the most promising instrumental hip-hop │
│ debuts of 2006.ö │

│ To follow-up the success of Tacoma Mockingbird, Eliot Lipp │
│ delivers the Steele Street Scraps EP, which is the official │
│ companion to his 2006 album. Clocking in at just over 30 │
│ minutes total, each of the 10 songs from Steele Street Scraps │
│ is perfected with a similar synth-funk instrumental hip-hop │
│ formula found on the now classic Tacoma Mockingbird album. Not │
│ to be confused as outtakes, some songs are culled from the │
│ Tacoma Mockingbird recording sessions, while other songs are │
│ brand new or remixes. Remixes are commissioned by John Hughes │
│ (aka Slicker/one half of Some Water and Sun and Hefty Records │
│ honcho, John Hughes), Victor Bermon (Hefty labelmate whose │
│ debut album is due out in 2007) and a collaboration from │
│ EliotÆs Chicago friend/producer Earmint. │

│ With his sophomore full-length, Tacoma Mockingbird, Eliot Lipp │
│ suddenly found himself on the radar of numerous fans, │
│ journalists, and booking agents, and 2006 became a very busy │
│ year. Choosing to stay with the same synth-funk instrumental │
│ hip-hop from that release for his latest project, Lipp presents │
│ ten songs that serve as a kind of companion to Tacoma │

│ Steele Street Scraps, though is anything but scraps. Rather, │
│ it's work that surfaced during the recording of Tacoma │
│ Mockingbird, with a few brand new tracks and some remixes │
│ thrown in for good measure. Clocking in at just over 30 │
│ minutes, it's a nice way to tide his audience over until the │
│ release of his next full-length, due out in 2007. │
