Release Notes:
A much awaited come back: Giovanni Allevi releases 'Joy' on September
29, the second album of the Italian pianist following the big success
of his first album 'No concept'. Twelve tracks of piano music that
reveal an even more mature nature of the composer who explains the
title of his new album: "Joy is not simply euphoria. The big joy to
feel that I did what I really wanted to do, playing all the music I
had in my head. In reality I feel like a humble instrument in the
hands of music and I think of Michelangelo, who said that when
sculpting, he just removed the excess of material around his works".
The album was recorded in a particular way: "I recorded 'Joy' without
ever playing it before: the piano must remain an uncontaminated
island to be explored by me, where emotions are more important than
technology, the intensity of the moment goes beyond experience". The
artist explains the cover of the album, that shows him with the keys
of the piano in his voluminous hair: "I am proud of this cover, I
really like this kind of ironic smile of mine. Flora Sala, a graphics
specialist, and I decided to place the keys on my head, realising
that the result might by very ugly, or enter into the history of
album covers! And I don't think it's ugly". The pre-audience of the
tour of Giovanni Allevi is programmed for October 22 in the S.
Cecilia room of the Auditorium of Rome, October 27 at the Blue Note
in Milan and November 1 at the Festival 'Time Zones' of Bari. The
tour will start in the first months of 2007. In the meantime, he will
work on the sound track (for piano only) of an important Italian
film.
