Scarlet Slipping often falls into the gothic/darkwave category by
others although Wagner self describes Scarlet Slipping as "dark,
moody orchestral type music with some Celtic influence".
Scarlet Slipping is a one-woman show. All music is written,
programmed and produced independently by Dawn Wagner.
She began composing, recording and performing at age 17 in 1995 in
Sioux City, IA under the name the Dragon Queen.
In 1996 Dawn eventually joined forces as the new leading vocalist
with Santa Barbara, CA's darkwave/ethereal band Trance To The Sun
(mastermind and creator Ashkelon Sain, see related links page).
In 1997 Ashkelon and Dawn recorded and released the Trance To The
Sun CD entitled Delirious; followed by a Mid-West/ West coast tour
sharing the stage with other darkwave bands such as Switchblade
Symphony, Faith & Disease and Sunshine Blind.
Soon after their tour, Dawn left Santa Barbara moving to San
Francisco. Unfortunately, only able to afford living in a cramped
storage space inadequate for a recording studio she left San
Francisco and moved to Minneapolis,MN in 1999.
In 2001 Scarlet Slipping recorded a mini CD that was briefly
available through MP3.com and her track Autumn Air (also featured
on her new CD Fire in the Mist) stayed at the top 10 of MP3's most
downloaded and played songs in the indie gothic/darkwave genre for
several months. Scarlet Slipping was also featured on the debut CD
The Birth Of Tragedy by Minneapolis' hardcore/metal band Song of
Zarathustra.
In 2003 Dawn built her own private recording studio and has been
writing and recording since. She has just completed the production
of her new CD entitled Fire in the Mist.
Scarlet Slipping plans to hit the stages for live performance
locally in Minneapolis beginning fall of 2006 and plans to arrange
a Midwest tour spring of 2007.
