"Exium Keep you ears peeled. This dynamic electronic music duo from
Spain is something to watch out for! Valentin Corujo and Hector
Sandoval started their respective careers back in 1994 when they
graced the wheels of steel in various clubs in Asturias. In 1999,
they joined forces and started producing together under the project
name Exium. Their music has taken them far: Their unique production
style has not only lead to releases on Spain's top techno imprints
Zet Records, Tsunami, Warm-Up, Rxxistance, and Recycled Sounds, but
also led to collaborations with well-known artists such als
Olga&Josef, Oscar Mulero and Christian Wuensch. To maximize their
potential, Exium created various outlets - Kabarett, Nheoma and
FictionFilm - for their wide sound spectrum which ranges from heavy
techno to house and electro and even pop - they even got involved in
a visual arts project, and as Corujo & Sandoval, they produce house
music which is published on international labels such as Nocturnal
Noise and New Era. Now they strike back on Gayle San's Equator
Records, one of the most acclaimed German techno labels: Four
strange, atmospheric, spatial, dark and driving techno tracks of the
most deranged kind. Exium do it again and create their very own
atmospheric visions of darkness.
A1: "Kill All Lifeforms" A powerful beat, belching acid noises and
weird harmonics catapult you straight into the world of Exium where
monks rave in dark catacombs and nothing is quite how it should be.
While the bass drums march away like a steaming machine almost on
full throttle, strange sounds and samples fill the structure like
nightmarish visions.
A2: "Gong" Take a deep breath and get ready for the next audio sonic
nightmare as strange soundscapes spread out in front of the speaker.
Dive inside the dark groaning basses and bleeping stabs that lay
beneath layers of alternating tonal vocal sounds, and walk around
astounded in those spacious caverns of aural trickery while the
subliminally hot-blooded percussions and a deep, compelling beat take
you astray.
B1: "Protonix" Pumping beats with a playful rhythm structure
consisting of little clanks and squeaks create a dynamic force that
pulls straight onto the dancefloor where anything can happen. With
weird stabs and enough strange sounds to keep the mind occupied while
the legs stomp away, Exium again summon up those strangest ghosts of
techno that now are impossible to get rid of.
B2: "Ljubav" It cannot get more psychoactive than this with this deep
techno track that takes you on a journey through mysterious sounding,
dripping, bleeping and squelching noises and a faint hint of acid
that cover up those beautiful, shining layers of synth pads. A real
mindtrip that lets you drift to a cosmos far, far away."
