The Cheeky Sneakers crew have unlocked somewhat of a gem with this
tasty new six-pack from Theo Everyday, who combines a wicked selection
of breaks and garage-like influences for 'Holsten FM'. First up, 'The
Way U Feel' is an emotional rollercoaster of booming drum processing
and delicate vocal prowess, opening the project up with a smooth
landing, before the title track arrives with much more old school
influence and nostalgic instrumentation. From here, percussion leads
the way on 'Everybody's Talking', a typical euphoria bomb, fusing big
room speech samples with jittering drum sweeps and hardcore chord
progressions, with 'Six & Two Threes' taking us back to the
underground to follow with a sub-driven discofest. Finally, 'Summer
Lie In' delivers a very clean set of breaksy drumlines to begin the
final countdown, with the super-acidic arrangements of 'Mod Cons'
drawing this exploration to a close in style.
