Critics' pick at NXNE 2004
- NOW Magazine, Toronto
...Aviette exudes a charm anchored by focused arrangements, Holly
Munoz's charismatic vocal presence, and an equally compelling
online presence at aviettemusic.com
- Jason McLean, Director, Varsity Theater
The indies might not be deeply investing in market research but
each band's success seems to be a case study for big labels...such
news can be empowering for music elitists. Finally, we would have
a voice. We could evangelize and be responsible for getting Ted
Leo on the radio. Or, we could finally get that trio from
Minneapolis, Aviette signed with a label.
- Julie Simmons, Harp
Playing progressive, yet accessible indie rock, Aviette is
Minneapolis-based band made up of Holly Munoz (guitar/vocals),
Justin Hartke (bass), and Kyle Larson (drums). Until we hear from
Dave., their first full-length record was recorded with Chicago-
based engineer Jonathan Raymond and producer Devon Bryant (Sybris,
Crush Kill Destroy, Brighton MA, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, The
Saps).
Aviette receives regular airplay on 89.3 The Current (MPR), KFAI,
WMCN, KGSM, WLUW, and was recently featured on Minneapoliscast.
Aviette has performed at the 7th Street Entry, Triple Rock Social
Club, Fine Line, Turf Club, Varsity Theater, and Wellstone World
Music Day in Minneapolis, the Congress Theater, Hideout, and
Subterranean in Chicago, Luther's Blues in Madison, the Onopa
Brewery in Milwaukee, the Kraftbrau and Trinity House Theater in
Michigan, and colleges and universities throughout U.S.
Holly Munoz
Vocals and Guitar - Holly is a cat lover and a thrower of dinner
parties. Her friends include, but are not limited to, Kyle Larson,
Justin Hartke, Stacey McKinney, and Karma, an Australian with nine
fingers. According to the heavy metal band Point of Contact, Holly
sounds, "silky."
Kyle Larson
Drums - Kyle enjoys drumming because his drum kit has 'lots of
parts.' Kyle also reads very large books by Russian authors.
According to the heavy metal band Point of Contact, Kyle "looks
like a drummer in a metal band."
Justin Hartke
Bass - Justin invented the bass amp. Well cushioned from the
aforementioned invention, Justin spends most of his time playing
Magic: The Gathering«. He will be attending this year's World
Championships in Yokohama, Japan. According to the heavy metal
band Point of Contact, Justin "looks like he'd be blown over by a
gust of wind."
