All Sides is the sound project of Nina Kernicke. Born,
living and making music in Bremen , North Germany , Nina
blends field recordings, sampled beats, bass and processed
guitar into dark, brooding instrumental pieces.
Nina began making mix tapes for friends and audio plays, and
worked later as a DJ. She has been creating her own music
since 2001 and also plays guitar for the experimental outfit
Troum . The ôAll Sidesö EP is her debut solo release.
Lying somewhere between hip-hop and ambient, rock and
minimalism, Nina acknowledges Scorn, Radiohead, Meat Beat
Manifesto and Slowdive amongst her many influences. All
Sides' music is as diverse as these influences might
suggest, yet there are common threads that link all of the
tracks together, not least in terms of mood and atmosphere.
The seven tracks on the debut release hint at the breadth
and depth of music that Nina has recorded and what is to
come. Beautiful, uneasy listening.
