"In anticipation of the forthcoming "My Favorite Film" album by
Reynold, aka Sam Rouanet, Persona presents the My Favourite Film
Remixes. In keeping with the general vibe of the album, Persona has
enlisted the bespectacled underground Clark Kent who flies in the
guise of superhero/super DJ Donato Dozzy as well as the
never-less-fidgety nail-biting skillz of Stewart Walker, the man
with the plan, an MPC and a guitar in hand. To get down to brass
tracks, we're fucking excited! Summer in Berlin has been
unseasonably warm, leading all citizens out of hot smoky nightclubs
and into the shiny happy sunshine. My Favorite Film captures the
vibe of July 1st, 2006 when Donato first dropped his "Over There"
remix as his finale track in the garden of Panorama Bar. Listening
to the song, you can imagine the response. With the ambient intro,
and the increasing intensity as the kick and claps come in, you
realize this is that rare jewel of a track which floats love,
intimacy and a feather touch over the overwhelming intensity of
live 909 kicks and toms. Clocking in at just under 10 minutes,
you're going to play every second of this record. Back to July 1st:
At the same time the Italians were huddling under the atomized
waterfall on the dancefloor, Stewart Walker was stepping off stage
at the Fusion festival and directly into the VW to drive him back
to the B to eat Pizza ai Carciofi at Due Forni. The "Persian Indigo
- Wish I Was There Mix," written after the fact, seeks to capture
the spirit of that day. Stewart's mix builds on the original mood
from Reynold, while nudging the emotions into a happier and more
carefree shape. Atmospheric piano chords, Brian Eno's pads, and
Reynold's guitar work causes us to jump for joy every time we drop
the needle."
