|   |  Queasy listening is the best way to describe this new half-hour    |   |
|   |  EP from Quinoline Yellow, arriving in a clear jewel case with      |   |
|   |  yellow liquid injected into the spine. ôDo not drinkö it says on   |   |
|   |  the press release, you just know that someone is bound to try.     |   |
|   |                                                                     |   |
|   |  Luke Williams is the man behind Quinoline Yellow, an obvious       |   |
|   |  exponent of the Vibert/Aphex/Paradinas generation. His background  |   |
|   |  tastes in hardcore and drumÆnÆbass are subtly evident on the       |   |
|   |  meaty, sludge-driven beats that propel this collection of six      |   |
|   |  ambient-techno tracks.                                             |   |
|   |                                                                     |   |
|   |  The overriding feel is one of claustraphobia, as tightly swamped,  |   |
|   |  yet highly melodic pads sing playfully atop muddy beats and        |   |
|   |  intricate, mechanised clanks and clunks. At first, little seems    |   |
|   |  to differentiate one track from another û and stylistically the    |   |
|   |  content appears a little one-track at times, with a very similar   |   |
|   |  sound palette used throughout the EPÆs entire length.              |   |
|   |                                                                     |   |
|   |  However, Colour Index 47005 remains a likeable enough release,     |   |
|   |  with fairly compulsive beats and melodies, solidly forged. A trip  |   |
|   |  back to the dawn of ambient techno, when Aphex TwinÆs Selected     |   |
|   |  Ambient Works ruled, and released on WilliamsÆs own Uchelfa        |   |
|   |  label, more power to him.                                          |   |
