Jack Rose has picked up a wealth of admirers over the last few
years, with his work making droney rock with Pelt or under his
own name accompanied by his trusty 12-string, his spiritual
sounds have been wowing critics and free-folk followers
worldwide. This hugely limited (aren't they always?) 7" sees
the man ditch his usual Fahey-isms in favour of something
deeper and more experimental, throwing away the jangling folk
ragas and replacing them with crumbling, murky dissonant tones
and frightening guitar abuse. In fact I'd expect something
this devastating to come from someone like the late (and very
great) Derek Bailey and not Jack Rose, but it's great to see
him taking risks like this and it certainly pays off. If you
want to hear one of the world's most intriguing guitarists at
the moment doing something very different then this is
probably the only chance you'll get, this is limited to 500
copies so grab it while you still can.
