│║ The debut album from Melbourne duo Low Budget, Magnasound.
│║ Consisting of impeccable flows from MC Genetik and smooth,
│║ stylish production and cuts courtesy of Polarity, Melbourne
│║ duo Low Budget is set to bring some soul to Australian hip
│║ hop. Working together for over five years, the pair have built
│║ a chemistry that could be likened to the great MC/producer
│║ match-ups of hip hop û think Guru/Premier, Rakim/Eric B and
│║ Kool G Rap/Polo.

│║ Low Budget came to the attention of underground heads when the
│║ cobbled together a mixtape as a last ditch promotional attempt
│║ for a show in Sydney in late 2005. To their surprise, this
│║ collection of musical and lyrical sketches and demos was
│║ snapped up by the heads and given airplay by Maya Jupiter on
│║ Triple J and community radio in their hometown of Melbourne.
│║ They were pressed into burning up extra copies as demand
│║ quickly outstripped supply. Their track ôHandle Oursö was
│║ selected by Sydney legends Blaze and Dr Phibes to appear on
│║ the Airheads 2 compilation and the duo was selected to appear
│║ on AustraliaÆs only free to air hip hop TV show Heavyweight.
│║ On Magnasound, Polarity taps the classic production of the 90s
│║ with a touch more groove and a whole lotta soul. His style
│║ encompasses everything from the soul of Pete Rock to the
│║ stunts and blunts of Diamond D to the boom bap of DJ Premier.
│║ Intensely original, Polarity brings some much needed
│║ simplicity to a scene full of overbearing horns and
│║ braggadocious funk.
│║
│║ Genetik excels with a delivery that's never forced, always
│║ smooth. Whatever the subject matter, his tongue in cheek
│║ attitude and aptitude for wordplay make his lyrics a pleasure
│║ for the ears. Citing Redman, Fatlip and Masta Ace as
│║ influences, he brings the straight solid hip hop with a hefty
│║ dose of humour.
