Tropicana Records is a sublabel organized and distributed by Soundmen
on Wax, NY. SOUNDMEN On WAX, LTD. is an Ten years-old independent
label and the music production company that is growing and escalating
at a massive rate. It strives for the movement of the heart and soul,
drawing from the music visionaries of the past, present and future.
The label's goals are to act as a foreground where talented
producers/musicians can congregate and build upon each other's dreams
and inspirations to create the finest in quality music Shuji Hirose,
founder of SOUNDMEN On WAX, The former CEO and head of A&R of Free
Bass Records NYC a subsidiary of Toshiba/EMI established in 1994.
Shuji is the driving force behind the label, bringing out the best
they have to offer. He has working with legendry NYCs DJs (including
Larry Levan and countless others over the past 18 years representing
the new breed of Disc Jockey. In Japans famous Yellow Club he was the
original resident DJ of Saturday's "World Connection" and other
parties in Tokyo area and 10,000 audiences at the Budoukan was an
amazing party in 92. In 1992 Shuji discovered and developed the then
9-year-old singing superstar, Hikaru Utada. When she was 13 years old
Shuji secured and co-produced Hikaur Utadas first recording deal
Cubic U with Toshiba/EMI Records Japan. The album also featured Jive
records recording artist Imagine. The released album entitled
"Precious" when platinum in Japan. Shuji lunched out the own label
that spoil his mind and wanted to show house music should be more
artist oriented they should be on the front door, not DJs, he was
able to Shuji is currently working with the talented group known as
Refugee Camp/Booga Basement Productions are. IN 1999 Shuji formed a
partnership with the Japanese high tech music kiosk interactive
Venture Company V-Sync Co. ltd. coordination and licensing of
American music from Sony Music, BMG and many more labels. Shuji is
also involved with consulting and licensing for DANCEMANIA
BASS/Toshiba EMI, one of the most successful bass music compilations
in Japan. Another great influence behind the exposure and success of
SOUNDMEN On WAX has been the numerous tours. Shuji is frequently
scheduling tours through out the world with a wide array of
multi-talented artist. SOUNDMEN is located one block away from ground
zero, after experienced first hand the tragedy and devastation of
Sep. 11th, Shuji is taking SOUDMEN to another level, by helping to
rebuild the economy through tourism. Working along side E
Entertainment Inc. Japanese based travel company Entertainment World
and TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc.) by providing Venues that
would encourage more of Japans citizens to travel abroad for concerts
that would feature Japans most famous recording artist. SOW is also
working with Mets New York since 2003
