First in an infrequent series of limited 10" dubs made available to
explore Andy Stott's squashed sublow variations, 'Choke / For The Love'
has been pressed up in a limited edition of 650 copies for the world
and will not be re-pressed. Having spent the last few months balancing
out and refining his forthcoming debut album 'Merciless', Stott has
been re-wiring his studio for a heavy build-up session. "Choke" is a
crushing dubstep riposte, stripped down and rebuilt with crisp double
snares and impossibly weighty bass, augmented by those classic strings
that come by way of Berlin rather than any South London boroughs. The
flip 'For The Love' is a Garage redux, percussive spasms battling it
out with low-end wobbling that threaten to spin out of control, kept in
check by those classic neon chord stabs.
