HOLMES a.k.a. Singer/Songwriter/Producer Roy Shakked has been a busy man.
Enlisting a group of friends ù Guitarist Lyle Workman (Sting, Beck, Frank
Black), Drummer Ramy Antoun (Seal, Alexi Murdoch), Cellist Sarah OÆBrien (ELO,
LA Philharmonic), Bassist Brett Simons (Alexi Murdoch, Liz Phair), Bassist
Travis Carlton (Larry Carlton, Robben Ford) and other close pals ù Roy spent the
summer of 2006 bringing to fruition a long overdue project. Holmes is brimming
with influences from 70Æs era American rock and The Beatles but is produced with
an ear for multiple genres and personal touches, effortlessly moving from tender
to hard grooving while always keeping a melodic core with RoyÆs intimate voice
as the anchor.
The EP features five of the upcoming recordÆs twelve tracks. The full length
album is due out February 2007.
RoyÆs music has previously been featured on TV shows The OC, Sex a?nd The City,
Independent Lens, Without a Trace, Nip/Tuck, a Nissan Motors commercial, movies
Poseidon and The Devil Wears Prada, as well as recent album compilations for
Banana Republic, Pepsi Cola, and The Sharper Image to name a few. He has worked
as a bar pianist, multimedia composer, Label Director of Repertoire, record
producer (who would lend his piano and voice skills to all who desired), and
finally label owner.
