Release Notes:
Apres une incursion fort reussie dans la fusion
latine (Un souffle latin), Bernard Primeau change
radicalement de contexte. Car le batteur
montrealais n'aime pas la repetition. Cette
nouvelle aventure, Evolution, il la partage avec le
tromboniste Hugh Fraser, compositeur de la majorite
des themes, et le Quatuor Franτois Pilon. Les
cordes se marient parfaitement a l'Ensemble,
particulierement sur le Concerto for Jazz
Orchestra, Island Man et surtout sur Water Colors,
une composition de Bill Mahar, excellent α la
trompette et au bugle. Andre Leroux, tenor, Eric
Harding, piano, et Fraser tirent egalement leur
epingle du jeu.
Bernard Primeau is a gifted drummer. He played
along with his talented musicians,many pieces from
his award winning album"Evolution" that won them a
Juno last year. He started by playing Water Color
by Bill Maher--what a great arrangement! I
especially enjoyed,"No more Blues" and Duke
Ellington's "Caravan".
