░ I still remember the first day I listened to Nada ░
░ Masala compilation. It was over 20 years ago, and ░
░ the only reason I picked it up was because of a) ░
░ the cover and b) it was at the Electronic Music ░
░ section. Yeap, back then that was enough reason ░
░ for me to buy a release. ░
░ ░
░ I was immediately mesmerised by the quality of the ░
░ music included and more importantly, by the flow ░
░ of the tracks which was absolutely magical. You ░
░ could tell that a lot of love went into that ░
░ compilation. Since that day, I became a fan of ░
░ Dakini Records and the main driving force behind, ░
░ Gio Fazio aka Makyo. And now, in 2022, I can say I ░
░ am the proud owner of all Dakini's physical ░
░ releases. All apart from one, but more about that ░
░ later. ░
░ ░
░ For almost 2 decades, Dakini records were going ░
░ strong with one quality release after the other. ░
░ But around 2015 the release schedule only included ░
░ Makyo's work and the releases of physical formats ░
░ came to a crawl. There were 2 main reasons ░
░ involved into that. ░
░ ░
░ The first being the rapid decline of CD sales ░
░ globally, making it not financially viable to ░
░ release work of other artists apart from Makyo. ░
░ The last physical release was in 2016, with the ░
░ release of Atmosphere Factory's debut album ░
░ (another alias of Gio). ░
░ ░
░ The second, and most important, was a studio ░
░ accident that left Gio with a bad case of Tinnitus ░
░ and Hyperacusis. You can understand how that could ░
░ affect the output of a music artists really bad. ░
░ ░
░ So it was with great joy when I noticed that more ░
░ and more tracks started coming out from his ░
░ studio. Using two of his aliases, Atmosphere ░
░ Factory and Jinniyah, Gio proved that he was able ░
░ to overcome his condition and start releasing ░
░ quality music once again, with his mixing ░
░ technique getting better and better. ░
░ ░
░ If you took some time to actually read the text ░
░ and haven't bought a copy yet, you'll have noticed ░
░ my mentioning that I have all but one physical ░
░ releases, and the last one was back in 2016. ░
