Brooklyn's Detachment Kit are one of our very favorite bands.
Their latest self-released album represents thirteen tracks of
wonderfully angular guitar rock with a dash of spazz. Riffs like
these should be illegal. This comes highly recommended!
(insound.com)

Musically, The Detachment Kit straddles the lines. Their previous
album "Of This Blood..." features in-your-face pounders and
grinding guitars next to fist-in-the-air anthems with huge melodic
hooks and sensual lulls with intricate soundscapes and rhythms.
They go 0-60 in ways reminiscent of Albini's greatest work with
the Pixies and PJ Harvey. Live, The Detachment Kit wisely dumps
the softer moments by the wayside to keep the fickle New York
crowd's attention. The whole band thrashes and undulates, sweating
through their bombardment of a set.

After a couple of recordings made in Chicago and a number of line
-ups based around a core of Ian (vocals) and Charlie (guitar), The
Detachment Kit currently have an extremely tight rhymthm section
that was found (jokingly) on "Ebay." Nick (drums) and Bryan (bass)
seem to have fit in immediately and have a precise and warm
onstage rapport that keeps the group locked in and grounded. Ian
and Charlie worked in and around Chicago for a number of years
before deciding to head to NYC to make a go for it here and
they've fit in perfectly, performing for packed crowds at some of
New York's prime rock venues. (thedelimagazine.com)
