Junkyard ProductionÆs sound is a mix of crispy lo-fi dub, jazzy
vocals and Jamaican style mcÆing. The band is based in Aarhus and
Aalborg in the north of Denmark. They played their first gig in
February 2002, and have been playing live on a regular basis since
then. Meanwhile Junkyard Productions have been perfecting their style
and songwriting in the studio. The main influence is olÆskool
Jamaican dub as well as the modern dub sound from Berlin. In October
2004 the track öSister Let Him Goö was recorded for the Radio
Recordings II compilation album, and in February 2005 they played at
the Radio Recordings II release party live on Danish national radio.
ôSister Let Him Goö was released in October 2005 on Murena Records as
a 12ö. The track had massive airplay on DR P3 (Danish national radio)
and on French Radio Nova, and has already been licensed for various
compilations. In the fall of 2005 Junkyard Productions joined the
Varano Music Tour and played several major Danish venues.
Junkyard Productions has just finished their debut-album, which will
be released September 18th 2006. When working in the studio, Junkyard
Productions usually make complete vocal tracks, which then are
remixed as dub tracks. This way of working is closely related to the
way dub tracks were made when the style emerged in Jamaica. The vocal
versions work well in a live context.
Founder of Junkyard Productions is Rasmus Allin. HeÆs been working
with electronic music since 1995, with the Danish band Dub Wise. He
played guitar on the ╓rtz album öAnother Edenö, from witch the
hit-single öWe DonÆt Talkö was taken. HeÆs also DJÆing as a member of
öThe Dub Collectiveö. Christian is a computer-wizz and accomplished
drummer. His greatest contribution to the band is his anarchistic
sense of humor and spontaneity. Dennis is an amazingly powerful bass
player in styles like hiphop, acid jazz and reggae. Ena is an
experienced and skilled singer, whoÆs done a wide variety of styles
such as jazz, soul, pop and also acid-jazz infused with hiphop. MC
Pops Jabu has been living in South Africa, Zimbabwe and London,
before he settled down in Denmark. He already has several albums
under his belt. Doing his thing live he can tear the roof of any
venue
