carnation portrays mei’s new ep as a tribute to the force of
nature, stamps her creative energy on violence and models the
relief of a world as tragic and sweet as life.
four original and functional tracks or two faces that exemplify not
only mei background in both sound and art but also her love and
knowledge of the experimental genre! her avant-garde approach
reveals tension between serene, calming, ethereal sounds and the
abrupt transition into noise.
it is through the lens of her sometimes crystalline, sometimes
nebulous voices that mei telescopes such saturated and twisted
music as harmonious and learned, borrowing from trip-hop influence,
skinned electronics, and major stage artists such as björk or
gazelle twin, with whom she maintains the comparison with pride.
then, just when you think you've defined it perfectly and
disastrously in this bubble, she turns around and plunges into the
black cotton of a bloody punk riff, or a satanist capharnaüm death
metal, flattened by the gigantic steps of a kick snare trap, or
rhymes rapped falling like a meteor shower.

Mei (the Japanese feminine name, pronounced “May”) is
the alter ego of French newcomer producer/singer, dancer and
choreographer Caroline Masson. She does everything on “an
ordinary laptop”. Until recently, Masson was training to
be a dancer in the legendary “Le Crazy Horse” cabaret in
Paris - with becoming an insect researcher as her plan B.

Hi chaps! This is the new retrofuturistic "back to the future"
obso-leet AMOK nfo hybridising oldskool ASCII art and YAML.
This nfo is designed to be both human and machine readable.
We also bring a few more things:
- The filenames are appended with ISRC codes disambiguating common
dupechecking problems like remastered and remixed tracks,
transliteration errors, foreign characters...
- id3 tags include a lot more metadata than average releases,
some to name a few:
- extended genres (extracted from last.fm/bandcamp)
- similar artists
- BPM (also shown in the tracklist above)
- URLS for that release on various websites for listeners to
look for more info and to simplify nukers' jobs checking
releases
The schema_version tag allows that nfo format to evolve and stay
compatible. The current schema will be published in the near
future to make sure all .yml.nfo released will use the same
structure and set of keys.
