Annoying voice overs throughout, but a nice mix none the less.
Well, what a year it has been for dance musicÆs brightest star. Following-on
from the success of Vol.1, our intrepid DJ embarked
on a world tou ;Æ remixed the likes of Underworld and Tiefschwarz ; took up a
coveted position on Radio 1 Æs ÆResidencyÆ show ;
continued to blaze an incredible production trail with the likes of ÆLuminaireÆ
and ÆLucky HeatherÆ (more on that later) and to cap
it all, continued to wow clubbers with his Space residency in Ibiza.
And thatÆs before he started to think about Vol.2 !
Yet, miraculously, here it is in all its glory, 2 CDs of some of the finest
house this side of a SothebyÆs property auction. Disc
1 ÆEarly DoorsÆ kicks off with NicÆs exclusive edit of King BrittÆs excellent
H-Foundation re-work, a record he has featured in his
sets over recent years, as he explains "1 tried to keep the balance... deep, but
not too boring. I also tried to find a couple of old
gems that I used to play." True to his word Nic serves up track and remix
delights from Francois DuBois, James Talk Akabu
Fuckpony, Charles Webster and the ever-excellent Ame before signing-off with the
highly sought-after Danny Howells mash-up of Coldcut
Feat. Lisa StansfieldÆs ÆPeople Hold OnÆ and Bent ÆAlways in My HeartÆ.
Disc 2, ÆLate Night FloorsÆ sees Fanciulli in full flow. Kicking off with an
excellent new intro re-work of his own Tiefschwarz
ÆDamage Feat. Tracy ThornÆ remix, he continues to keep things in-house with
Buick ProjectÆs interpretation of Underworld ÆVanilla
MonkeyÆ. Funk DÆVoid Gabriel Ananda Bookashade and Paul Kalkbrenner are just
some of the luminaries who also get to rub shoulders
in this expertly segued mix, but the highlights must be saved for the man
himself with ÆLucky HeatherÆ and ÆCat Out of The
BagÆ.
Both were recorded exclusively for the album with ÆLuckyÆ undoubtedly becoming
one of the summerÆs biggest anthems racing to the top
of both The Buzz AND itÆs American equivalent The Balance Chart a rare
achievement indeed.
Renaissance Presents Nic Fanciulli Vol.2 without
question one of the most exciting compilations you will hear all year.
