MAX MOHR - TRICKMIXER'S REVENGE
Born in Frankfurt am Main on October 3rd, 1962. Currently living in
Cologne.
"DIAMANTEN": The cranky opener of Max' debut album sounds like a
lively, organic dance of a foreign tribe. And yes, it's translates as
"diamonds"...
1982-1988: studies of art at the Staedelschule Frankfurt am Main.
Participating in various punk bands during this period.
"ASSONJA SWYNJA": You thought the opener was bizarre? Try this! Max
on a frenzy car trip with George Kranz... No, just kidding!
1988: first computer-produced music with an Amiga 1000.
"SPELLBOUND": Our meister of suspense, Dr. Mohr, has a lift-off and
heads straight into volplane. Beautiful haunting melody!
1993: Purchase of the first mini-moog.
"LUCKY GO WILD": The soundtrack to an 8ties science fiction series
shows a bit of Max' pop appeal. Though certainly not for the pop
charts of planet earth...
Max Mohr simply loves music. At the age of 12 he plays guitar, at 17
he's in a punk band. The exposure to his second passion however, the
passion of art, develops new worlds. As a consequence, new forms of
music enter his life.
"MELLOWMOON 2": Max arrives on planet Trickmixer with a bag full of
nice 'n warm chords. A characteristic tune, hear it in the club, hear
it in your kitchen!
During his studies at the renowned Staedelschule, Max not only
creates all different kinds of installations, accessible objects and
organic padded cells, but also the first tracks using the Amiga 1000.
"SCHABEN": A rocket propelled dub monster for every DJ. This is thee
track to play in the club to cause mayhem on the dancefloor!
Before moving to cologne in 1994, Max spends six months in New York,
where he studies the entire city while being deeply immersed in a
sphere consisting of artists and musicians. In 2000, Max releases his
first record on Playhouse, and the acclaim he gains consolidates his
intention to pursue producing music. The "Trickmixer EP", his third
release from the Offenbach label puts Max to the international
spotlight. The record has been played by DJ's spanning all genres,
such as Michael Reinboth, Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier, and
even appeared in british BBC radio shows.
"OLD SONG": CD only hymn from the previously mentioned "TRICKMIXER
EP" where all three moons start to rise. Lunar house!
With "Trickmixer's Revenge", Max Mohr delivers his stunning debut
album on Playhouse. Watch out for some Kosmische Musik...
"ON THE RUN": Off to another galaxy with Captain Max! Grinding organ
playing with speed to the max!
