█ █▓█ Along with its great architecture, the city has █▓█ █
█ █▓█ built an inspiring cultural climate that made █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Rotterdam Cultural Capital in 2001, the hottest █▓█ █
█ █▓█ clubbing city in the Netherlands and HollandÆs █▓█ █
█ █▓█ best Festival City three times in a row. But what █▓█ █
█ █▓█ makes Rotterdam really special is the creativity █▓█ █
█ █▓█ that is present everywhere in and around in the █▓█ █
█ █▓█ city. People from all sorts of backgrounds are █▓█ █
█ █▓█ expressing themselves and are creating a new █▓█ █
█ █▓█ culture together. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The one thing that defines a generation has █▓█ █
█ █▓█ always been and will always be music. In █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Rotterdam this is electronic music. For many █▓█ █
█ █▓█ years dj's, producers, clubs, labels and █▓█ █
█ █▓█ promoters have worked hard to realise their █▓█ █
█ █▓█ dreams, and without really knowing it, they built █▓█ █
█ █▓█ a whole new cultural class and economy. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Even more than acoustic music, electronic music █▓█ █
█ █▓█ is a form of art that is easily accessible. All █▓█ █
█ █▓█ it takes is to make a hit, is a computer, some █▓█ █
█ █▓█ software and skills. In this way many talents █▓█ █
█ █▓█ have worked their way from their basements, to █▓█ █
█ █▓█ the clubs, to the festivals and some even to an █▓█ █
█ █▓█ international status. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The variety of music styles in which electronic █▓█ █
█ █▓█ music is present in Rotterdam is immense. From █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Gabber to Nu Jazz, from Deep House to Minimal, █▓█ █
█ █▓█ from Electro to Drum and Bass, every style has █▓█ █
█ █▓█ it's own pioneers, upcoming talents and networks. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Some of these networks go worldwide, but mostly █▓█ █
█ █▓█ they are unaware of each otherÆs presence or █▓█ █
█ █▓█ qualities. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ We feel, and many do with us, that now is the █▓█ █
█ █▓█ time to combine our strengths and networks to █▓█ █
█ █▓█ create a festival that shows the Rotterdam █▓█ █
█ █▓█ electronic music-scene in it's widest form. We █▓█ █
█ █▓█ aim to create a festival for this scene, but most █▓█ █
█ █▓█ of all with this scene. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ This festival is the Rotterdam Electronic Music █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Festival, REMF. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Our goal is to have the whole city working █▓█ █
█ █▓█ together and form a yearly city-wide festival. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The last 9 months have showed us that Rotterdam █▓█ █
█ █▓█ is ready for REMF and by combining the forces of █▓█ █
█ █▓█ the clubs, the creative people and the city we █▓█ █
█ █▓█ are proud to present the program of the REMF █▓█ █
█ █▓█ pilot-edition on November 9, 10 and 11. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ The REMF pilot gives us the opportunity to test █▓█ █
█ █▓█ ourselves, to unite the electronic music-scene █▓█ █
█ █▓█ and to show the city that Rotterdam deserves a █▓█ █
█ █▓█ festival like this. We want to thank everyone who █▓█ █
█ █▓█ contributed to this pilot-edition and hereby █▓█ █
█ █▓█ invite everyone to join in and make REMF a █▓█ █
█ █▓█ celebration of creativity and electronic music. █▓█ █
█ █▓█ █▓█ █
█ █▓█ Together we make Rotterdam... Electric City! █▓█ █
