Release Notes:
One of the saltiest voices in traditional blues,
soul and R&B (and beyond) belongs to St. Louis-born
Vancouver resident Jim Byrnes, who you might also
see on occasion in cameo roles on the telly. Byrnes
adds a fiddle man in Jesse Zubot, slide from Steve
Dawson and upright from Andrew Downing for a rather
unplugged and beautifully tempo-ed outing. At the
bottom end, Elliot Polsky's drums round out the
Waits-ian room sound of the package. Among the
seven covers are Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's
Blues and Neil Young's For the Turnstiles, but
Byrnes is handy with pen as well, as on Love Is
Just a Gamble
