Peter F. Spiess vs Akiko Kiyama: Contexterrior 15 is a return to
tradition. Not only are bringing one of of our favorites producers
and family members out but we're also returning with a bang might we
add, to the versus tradition. Peter F. Spiess is the master of
understatement. A real player in the fine art of sparse sound and
ultra deep vibe. Peter deals 3 aces in a row all covered in thorns
and needles. Kitchen Sink Actress is tripy and grabbing. It dishes
out a gut smacking bass, loads of space and eerie vibe that suggest
that Peter is hiding little green mars people in his back yard.
Feinkost is the German word for delicatessen and indeed this track is
yummy. It slides like butter on a hot pan and and frizzles like a
drop of water on hot oil. The last track to Peter's side is Similar
Species. This one is a classic Frankfurt afterhours covered in oh-so-
low kick drum and those mars people again. We could not be happier to
be able to present three of Peter's creations here. On the other side
we present the first lady of Contexterrior. Akiko Kiyama hails from
Tokyo, Japan and has the coolest mom we ever met. Her live
performance is energetic and stylish which is to be expect from a
lady that is just those qualities. Akiko is the perfect complement to
Peter's pearls with a similar aesthetics, but a ton of individuality.
Dune is as heady as can me. It's a head bopper and is accompanies by
what sounds like male vocals, but we are still undecided if that is
the case. More secrets are spread with In Vitro. The track plays with
several kick drums to create a great drive and is constantly
developing and adding syncopation. You can expect more from these two
in the near contexterrior future. And if you read all the way down
here let us assure you that seeing the both of them play their live
sets is a unique experience.
