Formed in August of 2005 by Mike Coyne, Mike Ries, and Chris Tures, DPU! is out
to make rock music that makes you say, "Wow, i like that rock music. Please turn
that rock music up, please." They were joined several months and several
challenges later by Danny Ries. His heavy-handed axe fanagling has earned him
fanfare the likes of which haven't been seen since Otharia's affair with the
zither. Now that all dragons are accounted for, their psychedelic licks, chops,
and fills induce hollucinations in the crowd, causing them to mysteriously
assume forms that can only be described as something similar to dip-n-dots. They
dream to someday play The Red Dragon restaurant on Lyndale in Minneapolis,
though there has yet to be ANY band performance there. Until then, they will
settle for other venues around the Twin Cities.
When they are not incinerating villages, devouring livestock, or holding
princesses captive, they enjoy misty evenings in the train yard, a stiff slug of
bourbon, and a nice chat with the mother spirit. They hold fast to the DIY
attitude of dragons throughout the years, and seek not fame and celebrity, but
infamy and a horde.
On November 18th, an album was released of unparalleled rockitude; "This Way To
Gunshire..." Not any old album, but the first in a trilogy - or "thrillogy," if
you will. This epic tale is not for the faint of rock and you are advised to
wear a raincoat!
