Faux Jean began in 2000 as a solo project for a Duluth
singer-songwriter-producer known to his friends as Matty. Like his fellow
Duluthian Bob Zimmerman, Matty felt that his strange and very ethnic last name
would prevent him from achieving worldwide musical hegemony and so he took the
name faux jean as his own. Soon, a band stood up to the cause of the fake denim
revolution, and faux jean had six faces instead of one. In a tour van they
sought the four corners of the USA in search of redemption while releasing 3
albums in as many years. In the process they got to play with crazy fuckers like
Cyndi Lauper and Frank Black. Release number 4 looms and promises to send the
Fauxs on the road to redemption (if not to New York and LA) again in 2006.
Climbing in the van this time around are the lovely and talented Honey Jean
singing fiercely, Faux Suede bassing basely, C-Note Jean drumming madly, Rockin'
Gene Bakken shredding tastefully, Faux Pav saxing with a silent v, and Jean
D'ax, we hope. Faux Jean (the boy from duluth) will be there too. Released "Kiss
