Many artists have taken to the stage and studio with nothing more than a guitar
and a handful of heartfelt songs. Fewer have managed to do so without being
pigeonholed, or worse, lost in the shuffle of a seemingly endless parade of
so-called singer/songwriters. Tony Lucca has not only managed to stand out as an
original artist in defiance of genre classification, he's done it diligently for
close to ten years, constantly honing his craft and cultivating an extremely
enthusiastic following every step of the way.

After garnering the 2001 LA Music Award for best male singer/songwriter, Tony
Lucca had created quite a buzz with industry insiders and managed to take to the
road opening for recording mega stars like Macy Gray, Johnny Lang, and the late
great Chris Whitley.
Lucca has recently finished work on his 4th full-length studio effort, entitled
Canyon Songs, due out this summer on the Rockridge Music record label. Written
and recorded almost entirely in the canyons of the Hollywood Hills, Canyon Songs
is a collection of carefully crafted, poetically soulful songs that pay homage
to the unforgettable singer/songwriter spirit of Laurel Canyon that thrived in
the late sixties and seventies. It's here that Lucca's deepest influences rise
to the surface. From the Eagles-esque "Darlin' I" to the Joni Mitchell-like
"Songbird", Lucca displays his dedication to craft and reverence for song. With
melancholy sentiments sung through uplifting melodies, songs like "Julia" and
"So Long" let us into a more mature, experienced side of Lucca. Also included is
the instant favorite, "Death of Me," a song that has seen much exposure and has
spread like wildfire throughout the ubiquitous, on-line presence that is
"Myspace.com."
The consummate live performer, Lucca has etched out an extensive national
following. From the folk-friendly venues of the lower East side, to the
hype-crazed clubs on the Sunset Strip, and with the help of a national street
team of close to 1000 devoted listeners, Tony Lucca has made a rather impressive
name for himself as an artist not to be missed.
