Dubble D is Manchester househead Danny Ward famed for his acclaimed
album "Reachin Out" released in 2002 on 2020 Vision, amongst other
things. Danny has aged disproportionately from all the excess raving
involved in living the high life and being a deep house celebrity. He
now spends most nights playing army jazz in cabaret groups in the
north of England. He is one of the members of the 2020 Soundsystem
along with fellow pension-drawing ravelords Ralph Lawson and Silver
City. It's a little known fact that they actually get their name from
the collective age of their four members. This is Dubble D's debut
for Winding Road. It takes in so many directions that it makes your
eyes boggle - this EP has everything! Because of the varied musical
angles, it's no surprise that it's called the "Bug Eyed" EP. One
track is twisted Chicago robo-funk, another sits in between hiphop
and android disco, another is latinojazz warehouse rave, and the
other is deephouse 2step. And of course they're all brilliant.
