"Yes & No" is a dance record on Miles's terms. Tracks like "Last
Chance", "Fire" & "Revolving Door" are "ambient bridges" as Miles
likes to call them. Tracks that fill the gaps between the songs
that they represent. "Ricochet", the first track, might surprise
people because it's an uptempo electro track with hard beats.
"Deeps" and "Floating Windows" are on the early 80's N.Y. electro
and hip-hop tip. While the ambient touches of "Xenon" are present,
the dancefloor is certainly the destination of that song.
"Winter Mobius" is an ambient track that harks back to his earlier
days, which is in stark contrast to "Minutes" which is a dubby,
minimal dance track. "Split The Middle" puts the linoleum on the
floor, ready for you to get into your stance, 'cause it's time to
battle on this one. "Verticals" could be interpreted as a close
cousin to "Escape From Nothing" where the sound grabs you and
doesn't let go. "Glass Spider" could be the soundtrack to a chase
in a science fiction movie, but the only person who knows what it
is could be is Miles, and he wants you to listen and come up with
your own conclusions...
