A Forest is the new seductive album by the humbly legendary
swedish trio Logcabin. Mosquitoes fly low over Garden Path,
which gives us a hint of what is lurking beneath the rest of
the album. Starting off with haunting melodies, we gently sway
from tree to tree until storms make lightning for our bones:
guitar licks, bass quakes, organs & slow yet frenetic drumming
lead us further into the forest where we eventually encounter
an unearthly Arabic snowstorm. The album tumbles down the
mountain side as it disintegrates into new shapes, combining
the unexpected with the expected. Listeners face a dense and
descriptive journey with labyrinths of unidentified sounds,
gridlike vocal deliveries, drugged drumming and magnificent
string playing. Each track is an entire microcosm. Old
followers will recognise traces from Logcabin's excellent
previous recordings: The Society LP (2001) and Statistics are
Static (2003), however, A Forest breathes fresh air which will
seep under your door and slowly leave you overwhelmed. I urge
all inhabitants to embark on the journey to A Forest.
