'Bouncy Brooklynites Harlem Shakes' long-waited EP, Burning Birthdays, mashes
new-school sunshine pop against damaged indie doo-wop, pounding the result into
anthemic, Yeah Yeah Yeah-style rock. Singer Lexy Benaim lisps with dark, boyish
glee as alternately cutting and rolling guitar lines cascade over long ooohs and
ahhhs, bright synth patterns, and the occasional sax (there's even a flute in
there somewhere). If this is NYC-style garage, then its a new, far more
intelligent model (perhaps we're finally entering the age of post-garage
