██│ Tears and laughter have a way of getting along,Æ sings Canadian
██│ singer-songwriter Mike Edel on the title track from his upcoming 5th
██│ full-length-album and accompanying documentary casseroles & flowers
██│ out July 22nd, 2022.
██│
██│ Not only has Edel crafted a series of optimistic melodies that
██│ perfectly hold the tension between hardship and heart, but he did it
██│ while recovering from a stroke he suffered in April 2021. The sudden
██│ event occurred as Edel and his wife ù pregnant with their firstborn ù
██│ were on tour playing outdoor shows and living in a converted van in an
██│ effort to keep performing in a covid-compromised live event landscape.
██│ These experiences unravel before us in the extremely personal
██│ casseroles & flowers.
██│
██│ Today, he shares the title track from the LP, ôcasseroles & flowersö,
██│ The sentiment of which ôdefines the last year of my life; moving into
██│ a van with my pregnant wife Alissa to tour on the heals of covid,
██│ having a stroke, rehabbing, having a baby, and working hard to play
██│ music again,ö says Edel. ôIt's been wild.ö
██│
██│ ôI wanted to self-produce this album to have something to rehab and
██│ work toward and also to prove that I could still do it. My wife Alissa
██│ drew the artwork, and I recorded and mixed the song. We wrote the song
██│ about big ideas of meaning amidst the small objects of life.
██│ æcasseroles & flowersÆ co-written with two of my best friends, Cumulus
██│ and The Carlines also.ö
