│ Critically acclaimed for ultra-minimal explorations of the │
│ techno sound, Montrealer Ghislain Poirier recently converted to │
│ the religion of head-bobbing with his punishing ragga-style │
│ beats and deconstructed, abstract hip hop. "Be Strong" is │
│ Poirier's second collaboration with Shockout. He recently │
│ released two albums: Beats as Politics on Chocolate Industries, │
│ featuring Diverse and French-Canadian emcee SΘba and Conflicts │
│ on Intr_version. Breakupdown is due later this year on │
│ Chocolate Industries and features Beans, Diverse and SΘba. │
│ │
│ Eight Frozen Modules explore the boundaries of sonic bliss, │
│ scaling and shaping sounds, creating an erratically cohesive │
│ stream of audio data. No sound is left unchanged, and rhythms │
│ are sculpted to the point where time signatures are │
│ indistinguishable and irrelevant. A by-product of EFM's │
│ dedication to the re-engineering of sound is self-imposed cabin │
│ fever that bounces from giggling mania to panicked oblivion. A │
│ love of dub and ragga production led to work with Shockout, │
│ laying tracks and producing for topnotch DJs such as Wayne │
│ Lonesome and Daddy Screw. │
