│ Another Rub tour, another batch of exclusivo leftovers for us │
│ here at the Lab. This time, the dudes hit the road with their │
│ Canadian cohorts, Smalltown DJs, and both are well represented │
│ in this split release. The Brooklyn boys bat lead-off, and they │
│ do it in the form of the unreleased (and official!) remix of │
│ E-40's "White Gurl" which features Spank Rock associate Amanda │
│ Blank. From there, they tear through a quick reggae/dancehall │
│ section (including a nice megamix of Beenie's "Hmm Hmm") and a │
│ few Bay slappers (the Bailey & Traxamillion joints are real │
│ hot) before shifting into some Dilla, Alice Smith and Beyonce │
│ (as remixed by Quantic Soul Orchestra) to smooth out the │
│ ending. It's the perfect segue into Smalltown's mix, which │
│ follows the opposite path and begins with some J5, Temptations │
│ and Eric B & Rakim, most of which are re-touched or remixed by │
│ the dudes in some way. Smalltown (who hail from Calgary, │
│ released the Hai Karate vinyl EP series and are genuinely │
│ awesome bros, if you ain't heard) round out the mix with a │
│ brand new Spank Rock remix, a Bmore version of OMC's "How │
│ Bizarre" and a Beatles flip from the highly touted Matthew │
│ !WOWWOW! out of the UK. 69 minutes total. │
