"I believe in inciting movements!ö says Pleaze, "If the people ainÆt genuinely
moved about what ever idea the artist is trying to convey, then their message is
lost in translation, and thatÆs æifÆ thereÆs a concept [to their idea] to begin
with!"
With the upcoming debut of his first full length solo album, the "Pleaze
Believe" LP, Neezie Pleaze pushes the envelope of music, and traditional
Hip-hop. N. Pleaze plays well on throw backs to his self-professed influences
(the likes of NWA, Nirvana, and The Pharcyde, to Beastie Boys, The Strokes and
Jay-Z), and creates a new style of Hip-hop which Pleaze has coined
ôConverse-Musicö, or "Conversation-Flow".
Inciting movements is one of the chief reasons Neezie Pleaze established the
Independent Record Label of PDB Records, helping to define the ôPuget Soundö,
and further propel the Northwest Coast as a force to be reckoned with. All this,
while operating from his home town of Seattle, WA. ôIÆve lived in the S-E-A my
whole life,ö says Pleaze, ôMy MomÆs side of the family is from South Africa, and
my DadÆs is from here, so I was allowed a unique perspectiveàö
When asked about the direction and inspiration of the Pleaze Believe LP, Pleaze
replied ôThe Pleaze Believe project was a bit of a snowball process. I mean, I
had a hella clear vision for how I wanted my music to make me feel...ö Pleaze
elaborates, ôI guess I wanted my shit to be something the homie could bump, but
how I would do it... I just wanted this project to prove that commercially
viable flows donÆt have to be fucking weak-as-all-hell. Even the fact that I be
on some of the same shit as these other dudes, and yet mineÆs is conveyed so
intelligently sayÆs a lot to me and for me...ö
When asked to further describe his distinctive style of discourse, Pleaze
explained it as, ôThat little dialogue that carries throughout my flow and my
particular brand of satireà I chop it up with the listener, like you would with
the homie. ThatÆs that Converse-Music, you know? ThatÆs what makes me different.
IÆm a conversationalist. I drop Conversation-Flows, dialogue and all!ö.
The Pleaze Believe LP, layered with the subtle suggestions of yesterdayÆs hits,
dares to bid fair-well to the secular trappings of todayÆs Hip-hop quagmire,
while forging a path into tomorrow's sound. Listeners quickly discern Pleaze
Believe is composed of pure love for lyricism and song writing. Comprised of 16
full length songs, Pleaze does himself justice appearing predominately solo
through out the album. Featuring the hottest cast of Sea-Town producers ever
assembled (including the veteran talents of Vitamin D, and BeanOne), and
tastefully seasoned with the G.L.C.Æs (PleazeÆs musical affiliates), Neezie
