æShapesÆ came into being as an interest in dreams. Based on a dream diary, the
pieces were shaped and reshaped. Each piece is an exploration of how the shapes
of dreams can be turned into music.
The album unfolds different aspects of dreaming. It picks up threads from
fragments of dreams, notes from trembling night walks, and thoughts on how daily
life grows into dreams, and weaves them together as an unfinished map to be
explored and expanded in your hands.
Throughout the album sounds of double bass, birds, waves, people talking,
percussed metal pipes, vibrators, and sirens are morphed and merged into each
other, changing over time. The album moves between what is known and what is
unknown, it aims for connections and complexity, balancing repetition and
renewal, acoustic and electronic, song and sound.
