Client 03 challenges our deeply-ingrained ideas of authority with
'Compliance', their latest four-tracker in the mode of snappy,
dare we say pathologically-funky electro. Client 03 isn't the
first artist to command a sense of mystery as a result of their
cyberpunk / techno-dystopian aesthetic, but even so, we admire the
exploration of concepts like state submission and constructed
identities. An ironically so-robotic-it's-anarchic undertone is
given off by the tracks' steely vocal samples ("compliance...
passion... control..."), while our favourite track meanwhile has
to be 'Corruption Tracker', which sonically nails what it must be
like to be in possession of some prefiguratively just, handheld
GPS tech for tracking down future criminals.
