Release Notes:
The Saps got off to a hot start in 1999, playing some of their first shows to a
great response at local venues like the Lounge Ax and Double Door. Original
members Dan Lastick and Dan Menoni (The Dans) spent the next few years going
through a progression of crash and burn rhythm sections, until 2001 brought the
addition of Brett Whitacre on drums, veteran of the Chicago scene (36
Invisibles, Galactic Inmate, Warm Ones) and take-charge drummer. In 2003,
long-time friend and singer/songwriter Tony Sackett was brought in on bass,
solidifying the line-up that would find common ground in influences like Otis
Redding, Slayer and The Flaming Lips. 2006 saw the departure of Whitacre, who
went on tour with The Legendary Shackshakers. The band decided to keep it in the
family, and Whitacre's younger brother Ryan, a reformed guitarist, filled the
vacancy promptly while the band hardly lost a step.

The Saps have been busy! They've opened for great acts like The Legendary
Shack*Shakers, JET and Robbie Fulks, and have been steadily expanding their
touring radius, regularly venturing out from the local scene. Wherever they
play, The Saps know how to elicit a response. Whether that response will be a
drunk guy fastening his pierced cock to the stage, or a crazy-eyed meth-head
attacking Dan Lastick is anyone's guess. The Saps would like to note that once a
crazy-eyed meth-head has a hold of you, it is very difficult to break loose. For
this reason, the volatile nature of each performance is both blessing and curse.
Lastick is ring-leader of this sauced debauchery, adopting foot-on-monitor rock
regality just as gracefully as he makes up gibberish when he forgets the bridge.
Simply put, A Saps show is simultaneously a shit-hot rock-bludgeoning and a
complete clusterfuck. But, whether they are taut and thunderous or emotional and
out of tune, they're fun.

The great chemistry of the current line-up has not only manifested itself
onstage, but has resulted in a host of new material, generated at a dramatic
pace. A result of this is that the band would happily like to announce they do
not write songs that one is likely to describe as "country-punk". Another result
of this large addition to the catalogue is that The Saps have been at work in
the studio. In the past year, The Saps have been featured on two compilations
(for Eightysevenwest Recording Studio and Village Records), contributing songs
from their forthcoming recording. The LP, Ininadoya, finds The Saps in
breakthrough form, jumping from cacophonous rock to carefully crafted pop
ballads with equal adroitness.
