Release Notes
Golden Bay Records proudly present "Fear of a Quiet Planet", a showcase of
current, predominantly New Zealand, electronic artists. Featuring tracks from
rotor+, Jet Jaguar, Bluey, Max Maxwell, One Lung, Cloudboy, Bertrand
Rathbourne, Mr Boinkin, Elope, Phoebe Westbourne, T.K.Y, Protoson, Tim Koch
and Shinya.
This collection was compiled by John Heighes, who produced last year's
brillant New Zealand ambient compilation "Leading a Horse to Water".
"I have always been intrigued by the high level of creativity present in New
Zealand music. Our relative isolation seems to work in our favour" says John.
"However, these genre-obsessed times see a lot of fine music falling between
the cracks. I wanted to put together a collection of tunes that lay somewhere
between the extremes of soundtracks for latte drinkers and fodder for chin
scratchers".
Be it the majestic Jet Jaguar remix of "Obatem by Night", the chilled groove
of Bluey's "Are you Ready?, or Phoebe Westbourne's cutup soundscapes, this
collection is sure to inspire, entertain and challenge.
