R. Zee Jackson also known as Castro Levi delivers the tracks on
"Trodding" an album produced by singer-producer Mike Brooks of Teams
label with quite a laid back and meditative mammer, which shows that the
resulting lyrics came from deep meditation, self reflection and
spiritual inspiration. The 70s and 80s were the era when the Reggae
Beats were slow and te Drum & Bass were the foundation of the rhythms
interlaced with guitar and brass.
R. Zee Jackson and Mike Brooks have opened the time capsule
reintroducing this golden era of Reggae Music to younger listeners who
were not around then and he is also sending back his older fans to a
time when Reggae was a fledging genre and it was all about the singer,
the instruments and the message in the music.
"Trodding" is a symbolism of life's journey and its challenges and the
struggle to overcome and at the same time remaining true to one's self.
The obstacles and trials are reflected in 'Touch A Button', 'hypocrite'
and 'Labba Labba'. Love and its ups and downs are reflected in 'Be With
A Dread', 'Please Tell Me' and 'Stole My Heart'. There is also praise
and honour to the Almight revealed in 'Jah Is Good' and 'The River
Nile'. R. Zee's awareness of his own mortality is echoed in the title
track 'Trodding'.
